MARK West is backing his red-hot strikers to provide the difference as Thame United bid to stun East Division leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds tonight.

The Oxfordshire side, who have not played since February 24, will be hoping to avoid a third successive postponement in the Evo-Stik South League.

With the weekend’s snow melting from Rushden’s Hayden Road pitch, the hosts are doing all they can to ensure this evening’s fixture beats the weather.

If the game goes ahead, boss West is hopeful of causing an upset, especially with strikers Dan West and Lynton Goss, who have scored 36 goals between them this season, in fine form.

Mark West said: “The pressure is not on us and some of their recent results have been tighter than they would have expected.

“Hopefully we can keep it tight.

“The longer the game goes on, the more pressure that puts on them and hopefully we can nick one.

“We’re always capable of scoring a goal with the two boys we have up front.”

In the West Division, struggling North Leigh have signed Todd Hathaway ahead of their home clash with AFC Totton.

The forward, who has joined from Shortwood United, is included in tonight’s squad, while Dan James returns from suspension.

John Brough’s side will be hoping to build upon their confidence-boosting draw against leaders Taunton Town last time out.

And the Millers boss is hopeful the game will go ahead.

Brough said: “It’s 60-40 in our favour.

“We’ve cleared the snow, but it depends on the weather.

“There’s a lot of positives that came out of our last home game and we have a similar sort of side out to face Totton.”

The inclement weather has allowed Kidlington to get back up to full strength ahead of their trip to Shortwood.

Manager Julian McCalmon has a fully-fit squad to choose from, with Lewis Coyle and Anaclet Odhiambo returning.

Kidlington’s last outing was a 4-0 victory over Bideford and the boss says his side are still buoyed by that result.

He added: “It’s stop-start, it’s hard to say what form you’re in.

“We had a great result at Bideford, we’re trying to kick on, but it could be a busy period coming up.

“In terms of injuries, it (the break) has helped.”

Meanwhile, Didcot Town bid to reach the final of the Bigfreebet.com Challenge Cup.

The Railwaymen take on Larkhall Athletic at the Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium.

Didcot will be hoping to join Premier Division side Hitchin Town in the two-legged final.
