FOOTBALL: Mid Oxon miss out in final

Mid Oxon Schools Under 14s’ hopes of lifting the Oxford Times Cup were dashed with a 2-1 defeat by Vale of White Horse in the final at Chipping Norton.

Ben Thomas fired Mid Oxon ahead with a low shot midway through the first half.

But holders Vale dominated the second half, and equalised soon after the break with a Harrison Crick header from a Jack Powell corner.

Benji Anderson bagged Vale’s winner five minutes from time.

Mid Oxon Under 15s went down 8-0 to Southampton in the Wright Cup semi-final at Candon Common FC.
