FOOTBALL: Quainton leaves it late for Woodstock

Jack Quainton grabbed a late winner as Old Woodstock Town moved up to third in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West with a 2-1 victory at nine-man Lambourn Sports.

The hosts took the lead on nine minutes when Craig Robinson fired in a low shot.

Roberts should have made it 2-0, but his shot lacked enough power to beat the keeper.

After the break, Matt Pedder reduced the deficit with a penalty after he was brought down by Matthew Smith.

The visitors were reduced to ten men when Danny Pearce was sent off for collecting a second caution, before Lambourn substitute Jason Brizell was sent off for a foul on Ben Willoughby.

Meanwhile, Woodstock tra-vel to Colliers Wood United in the FA Carlsberg Vase second round on November 17.

Liam Botcherby’s 89th-minute goal gave North Leigh Res a 2-1 comeback win at home to Carterton.

Michael Duerden opened the scoring for Carterton, before Lloyd Lewis equalised.

Clanfield lost 3-0 at Lydney Town, for whom Pete Macklin (2) and Adam Price (penalty) were on target.
