Witney RFC have received a £2,000 cash boost to support their training and coaching scheme for west Oxfordshire schools.
Witney Lions donated the money to the Southern Counties North club who are based at Hailey Road, confirming their support for the TRY (Training Rugby’s Youth) scheme in 2009-10.
This is the sixth year TRY, which is also sponsored by BRITA Water Filter Systems, has operated, with all primary and secondary Schools in west Oxfordshire having received a visit.
Witney Lions’ president, Tony Waddington, presented the cheque to Witney RFC chairman Danny Crump.
He said: “The work being done by Witney through the schools training scheme is inspirational, bringing considerable social and health benefits to the hundreds of pupils who are being coached each week by the club.”
