Chipping Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw can’t wait for the start of the Euro Formula Open’s 2014 Winter Series after a successful testing session.

The 20-year-old Campos Racing driver (pictured right) declared himself very happy with the performance of his Dallara F312 during timed pre-season testing at Jerez in Spain last weekend.

Now he’s champing at the bit to line up on the grid at Paul Ricard in the south of France next Saturday, with a test outing at the Le Castellet track the previous day.

“I’m really looking forward to the winter series, it’s going to be fantastic being back racing and it will be good preparation for the main championship,” said Walkinshaw.

“After the Jerez test everyone seems closely matched, so it should be pretty interesting when the racing itself actually starts.”

Completing a total of 75 laps on the first day of the test, Walkinshaw ended up ninth fastest.

But he improved his pace noticeably 24 hours later to chalk up 85 laps, with his best time placing him eighth quickest and little more than 0.2secs shy of the top four.

“It all went pretty well,” he added.
