Witney teenager James Hall is looking to continue his motorsport education when he competes in this year’s Formula 1000 Rally Championship.
Hall, 13, who attends Henry Box School, started his career when he was nine-years-old, competing in cadet class karts before progressing into junior karts with notable finishes in both series.
He then tried his hand at short oval racing, becoming both the 2013 Junior Winternational champion and also the 2014 British Expo champion.
The new season starts with the Roskirk rally at Wigan’s Three Sisters circuit on March 1, but age restrictions prevent him from competing until after March 28, when he is 14.
It means he will be two rounds behind his fellow competitors in the nine-round championship.
And Hall has managed to attract a main sponsor in the shape of Witney firm Rally Preparation Services Ltd, a specialist rally and endurance car preparation, maintenance and support company.
While pre-season testing has been carried out in a Toyota Yaris, Hall will be driving a Citroen C1 to launch his assault on the championship.
His dad Robert Hall, who is chief engineer at the family-run firm in Sandford-on-Thames near Oxford, said: “His ambition is to become the next Colin McRae and he spends most of his spare time on you tube learning rally techniques.”
