CHIPPING Norton racer Andy Carpenter clinched victory in the third round of the No Limits ACU National Endurance Championship at Donington Park.

Carpenter, with teammates James Edward and Seb Kelly, both from Kent, helped the Go Racing Developments Endurance team win by just 40 seconds after six hours of racing.

After qualifying fifth, a good start enabled them to be in strong contention.

The race included British National Superstock riders, including former champion Hudson Kennaugh, whose team led for the majority of the race.

But Carpenter’s team moved into first place, maintaining their lead to take the chequered flag and remain top of the standings.

The next round is at Anglesey, North Wales, on June 11-12.

l KEVIN Magnussen was less than impressed with his 14th-place finish at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

Enstone-based Renault were unable to build on the points scored at the previous round in Russia as Magnussen’s teammate, Jolyon Palmer, finished just a place ahead in 12th.

Dane Magnussen is now looking to see improvements during the two-day test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

He said: We had decent pace on the soft tyre but on the hard and the medium – especially the medium – we were weak.

“It wasn’t a good day for me and I’ll be working closely with the team to understand why we weren’t able to deliver.

“I’m definitely looking forward to the test and getting some new bits on the car as the race certainly wasn’t representative of what we’re capable of achieving.”

l SEAN Walkinshaw scored his first Pro-Am class points by finishing seventh in the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Cup at Silverstone.

It helped the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN team, which also includes Matt Simmons and Romain Sarazin, enter the top ten in the standings.

Progressing from 14th on the grid, the trio carved their way through the field in an action-packed three-hour race, but lost sixth place in the closing stages.

The next round is at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, on June 24-25.
