OVERTAKING: Eynsham driver Dave Messenger (right) powers through the field at Rockingham
EYNSHAM driver Dave Messenger, competing for Team Darnells Racing, enjoyed a successful Alfa Romeo Twin Spark Cup at Rockingham.
Mechanical problems resulted in Messenger qualifying last on the grid for the first race.
However, a fantastic start helped him zoom through the field to a fourth-place finish.
Messenger then secured second place in race two behind championship leader Andrew Bourke and now lies in fifth in the championship standings.
The next round is at Snetterton on July 15 and 16.
