Morgan Williams and Mark Bell scored doubles as North Leigh boosted their Calor League Division 1 South & West play-off hopes with a thumping 7-0 victory at the basement boys.

The result saw Mark Gee’s side move within three points of fifth-placed Paulton Rovers.

An impressive first-half five-goal blitz was behind the visitors’ success.

The Millers took control of the game early on and it was no surprise when they opened their account on nine minutes.

A pass from Andy Gunn found Williams whose centre was tucked past Antony Hall in the Guildford goal from six yards by Wayne Turk.

Five minutes later, the Millers doubled their lead.

A long throw by Stuart Hole on the right touchline was flicked onto to Williams who hooked the ball in with his right foot via a deflection.

It was 3-0 when Hole lashed in a free-kick from the left of the penalty area.

Five minutes later, North Leigh bagged their fourth goal to leave the hosts reeling.

Conor McDonagh fastened onto a through ball from Mark Bell before firing home.

McDonagh then intercepted a poor defensive clearance before setting up Bell, who fired past a shell-shocked Hall for goal No 5.

The visitors made it 6-0 five minutes into the second half.

Hole’s lofted pass found Williams on his own and he completed his brace with a cool finish from close range.

Three minutes later, North Leigh completed the rout with their seventh goal.

A centre from the left was latched onto by Bell, who found the bottom corner of the net from eight yards to wrap-up his double.

Michael Hopkins, Jon Else and Jacob Walcott had chances to increase the Millers’ tally as they cruised home.

On Saturday, North Leigh host Clevedon Town.
