North Leigh (Hole 20, Ingram 88) 2
Yate Tn (Haldane 82) 1

Substitute Conor Ingram struck a late winner for North Leigh against Yate Town in Southern League Division 1 South & West at Eynsham Park.

The result saw Mark Gee’s side move up a place to eighth in the table.

The Millers had just seen Stuart Hole’s opener cancelled out when former Oxford United forward Lewis Haldane glanced a header past Matt Bulman from close range in the 82nd minute.

Both teams then threw caution to the wind, and it was North Leigh who profited with defender Michael Hopkins firing in a hard low centre for Ingram to gleefully clip it past a helpless Martin Horsell in the visitors’ goal.

Unfortunately, former U’s youngster Ingram, injured himself in the process of scoring as he collided with the keeper and post.

Ingram had replaced their recent signing Jamie Cook, who showed some deft touches after featuring in the starting line-up for the first time.

North Leigh had opened the scoring when Hole curled a free-kick over the wall into the top corner after Callum McN-ish was fouled just outside the Yate penalty area.

On Saturday, North Leigh face a trip to Merthyr Town.
