Merthyr Tn (Wright 5, McLaggon 10, Prosser pen 78) 3
North Leigh (Sanders 59) 1
North Leigh conceded two goals in the first ten minutes, but afterwards matched their high-flying Southern League Division 1 South & West rivals stride-for-stride.
Mark Gee’s side were hoping to build on last week’s 2-1 home success, but their hopes were dashed by the clinical hosts.
After five minutes, Jarrad Wright, the Merthyr centre back, rose to head a simple goal past keeper Matt Bulman.
Then striker Kayne McLaggon stole behind the visitors’ defence to head a second goal from a looping cross.
The Millers’ best chance came when Kieran Sanders headed against a post.
With Morgan Williams and Zak Eadle replacing the inju-red Conor Ingram and Jon Else, North Leigh pushed forward.
They pulled back a goal when Jamie Cook and Will-iams set up Sanders, who crashed the ball home.
Then Eadle was adjudged to have fouled Ian Taylor in the box, and Ryan Prosser scored from the spot.
On Saturday, North Leigh are without a fixture as scheduled opponents Shortwood United are in FA Cup action. North Leigh: Bulman, Else (Eadle 45), Hopkins, Turk, Gunn, Hole, Sanders, McNish, Ingram (Williams 35), Cook (Bowles 73), A Woodley.
Attendance: 368.
