Jimmy Deabill and John Mills bagged doubles as North Leigh thrashed Hellenic League Thame United 6-0 in the FA Cup preliminary round at Eynsham Park on Saturday.

Three goals in a devastating first-half display ended any chance of an upset.

Mills had a shot blocked, before the Millers opened their account on 17 minutes. Deabill was upended in box and skipper Stuart Hole fired home the resulting penalty.

Mills added a second on 24 minutes when he steered his shot wide of former Millers keeper Lee Farrow after good work by Wayne Turk. Deabill made it 3-0 ten minutes before the break, heading home a chipped cross from Jon Else.

In the second half, Thame raised their game and tried to press forward more. But North Leigh were rampant and Mills beat a couple of defenders before firing past Farrow for his second. Deabill added a fifth, clipping into the far corner from 12 yards to seal his brace.

It was all over when North Leigh scored the goal of the game.

Michael Hopkins went on a mazy run from his own half and found Lewis Coyle, who cut inside a defender before unleashing a shot from 15 yards that flew past Farrow.

North Leigh now host Wantage Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday, September 8.
