John Mills took his goals tally to nine goals with a hat-trick in North Leigh’s 5-3 victory against Abingdon United in Division 1 South & West on Monday.

The Millers almost went ahead in the first minute when James Foster pushed away a shot from Mills (pictured), who hit a treble against Cirencester last week.

North Leigh took the lead on 21 minutes. Keiron Sanders put Mills through on goal and he calmly placed his shot wide of Foster.

Minutes later, Stuart Hole’s defence splitting pass found Mills who clipped the ball past Foster into the far cornerfor 2-0.

Mills netted his second on 48 minutes after Foster could only push a Keiron Sanders shot into his path.

Two minutes later a Sanders corner was headed back across goal by Tom Franklin to Andy Caton who nodded in from a yard out.

That should have been it, but goals from Luke Carnell, Stuart Young and Curtis Angell saw Abingdon get back in the game.

However, eight minutes from time, Michael Alexis calmed North Leigh’s nerves with his first goal for the club after Foster saved a shot from Sanders.
