Conor McDonagh scored four as Witney Town stor-med to a 6-3 win at Abingdon Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Bank Holiday Monday.
Witney went ahead on 20 minutes when Andrew You-nie’s pass found James Dobson, who made it five goals in his last two games.
McDonagh doubled their lead minutes later with a cool finish after hesitation in the Abingdon’s defence.
It was 3-0 on 37 minutes when McDonagh scored his second with a clinical strike. McDonagh completed his hat-trick with a neat finish from Denel Thomas’s pass.
After the break, Dobson bagged his second of the game with a well-struck shot from the edge of the box to make it 5-0 after being set up by substitute Ben Moses.
Abingdon then clawed one back through Josh Beech before Tom Larman scored probably the goal of the game with a wonderful strike from the edge of the box.
Abingdon then scored a thi-rd when Nathan Brown tap-ped in.
But McDonagh settled Witney’s nerves with a curling strike on 73 minutes after good work again from Moses.
On Saturday, Dobson helped himself to a four-timer as Witney Town thrashed Holyport 5-1.
He opened his account after 14 minutes before doubling his tally three minutes later.
Dobson made it 3-0 just after half-time before Nick Thorne bagged No 4 on 70 minutes.
Four minutes from time, Dobson hit Witney’s fifth to complete his tally. Jamie West (penalty) replied for Holyport.
Old Woodstock Town beat ten-man Fairford Town 2-0.
Dan Green fired Woodstock ahead on 53 minutes, before Murray Nicholls (58) sealed it.
Late on, Fairford’s Joey Blackford was sent off for a second yellow card after bringing down Rob Johnson.
Carterton won 3-1 at home to Clanfield 85 for whom Chris Mills, Kris Redford and Michael Duerden were on target. Chris Blakely replied. On Saturday, North Leigh Res lost 4-0 at Tytherington Rocks, Justin Bishop (2) and Joe White (2) doing the damage.
