Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon could run Vulcanite at Royal Ascot after his versatile charge continued his revival with victory at Market Rasen on Sunday.

The seven-year-old gelding, who won his previous start over hurdles after a spell in the wilderness, reverted to fences at the Lincolnshire venue.

And the move paid off as he cruised home under Tony McCoy to beat Zarzal by three and three-quarter lengths in a handicap chase over two miles and two furlongs. “It was great to see Vulcanite win so well,” said Longsdon.

“He has always been a good horse, but certainly lost his way a bit over the last 18 months.

“The wind operation has clearly helped, but most importantly the better ground and the sun on his back have been the making of his return to form.”

The Galway Plate and the Summer Plate back at Market Rasen are possible targets for Vulcanite in July, but before then he could switch codes.

“It might mean I have to run him back over hurdles or even on the Flat,” added the trainer.

“Being rated 100 on the Flat, we might even look at one of the staying races at Royal Ascot.”

Meanwhile, Chipping Nor-ton-based rider Charlie Deut-sch faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking a wrist in a fall from Fitandproperjob at Plumpton.

On the Flat, Iseemist followed up her Brighton win for Chastleton trainer John Gall-agher with a clear-cut victory at Salisbury.

The three-year-old filly again showed her liking for cut in the ground by running on powerfully under Michael JM Murphy to see off the challenge of Suitsus by a length and a three-quarters in a six-furlong handicap.
