Teenager Jordan Albert finished with two podium places in the opening rounds at a rain-hit Snetterton in Norfolk.

Competing for the Chipping Norton-based SWR Caterham F1 Driver Development Programme Team, he finished third in rounds two and four of the eight-race campaign.

It could have been a hat-trick of podiums for the 18-year-old, but he went off while running in third place in round three, which proved costly as he ended the weekend sixth in the standings.

Mexican teammate Fernando Urrutia did well on his debut, with a best finish of seventh.

“Fernando had a massive learning curve”, said team owner Sean Walkinshaw.

“It was the first time he’s seen the car. He’d never seen the track and he’d never driven in the wet before – he did great.”

Walkinshaw added: “It’s great to get a couple of podiums with Jordan.

“He raced well and was really unlucky in the first race on Sunday.

“He’d just got third, but a couple of corners later he came off the brakes to unlock a locked wheel and it took him off.

“It was touch and go whether the car would be repaired for the last race, but the team did a fantastic job to get him out.”

The next rounds are at Brands Hatch on November 22-23.
