A double from Justin Churchill hel-ped Witney men to a 3-1 home win against VS Ramgarhia in Middx, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Division 1.

A devastating first-half display was key to the victory, which saw them move four points clear of the bottom three.

Witney started the stronger and it was no surprise that they took the lead when Churchill put the finish on a fine team move, that began in their own half.

Witney doubled the lead when Thomas Dobson smashed the ball in from the top of the D following a short corner.

The home side kept up the pressure and made it 3-0 with Churchill’s second goal.

Although the visitors cut the deficit after the break, Witney held on with few problems in a half that saw two red cards, five Yellows and a couple a greens brandished.

Witney 2nd defeated Division 4 basement boys Reading 3rd 1-0 at home.

The visitors capped a flying start with a goal from Tom Yallop set up by Ben Campion.

But they failed to build on the lead and were left hanging on in the last ten minutes as Reading pushed for an equaliser.

Witney 3rd ended their season-long wait for a victory with a 2-1 home win against fellow-strugglers Ashford 3rd in Division 6.

After withstanding some strong pressure from Ashford, Witney took the lead when Rob Dyer cracked home from the edge of the D for his first of the campaign.

The hosts doubled their lead when top scorer Joe Taylor found the net.

After the break, Dyer thought he had made it 3-0 when he bundled home, only for the strike to be disallowed.

Although Ashford clawed one back, Witney held on to break their duck.

Leaders Witney Ladies maintained their unbeaten home form in South Clubs League Division 3A after a hardfought 2-2 draw with West Hampstead Ladies.

The hosts went ahead with a well taken goal from captain Katie Gatt.

West Hampstead hit back from a short corner shortly before half time.

After the break Witney began to apply the pressure and scored through Marie Vincent.

West Hampstead pushed hard for an equaliser and grabbed a share of the spoils from a dubious penalty flick awarded for a suspected block.
