Witney members swept snow off the pitch before their South Club League’s Regional 2 match at home to Aylesbury, but their industry was not rewarded as they lost 3-1.

The hosts were quickly out of the blocks and solid passing from the midfield fed the new-look strike force of Tim Hardy, Justin Churchill and Jacob Deacon.

After ten minutes, Deacon gave Witney the lead with a shot into the bottom corner.

The lead was short-lived as Aylesbury scored went 2-1 ahead.

Witney bossed the second half, but could not find the net, and the visitors sealed it with a late goal on the break.

Two goals in the last ten minutes gave Witney a 4-2 win at Wallingford to keep them top of Ladies South Clubs League Division 3A.

Charlotte Manning deflected in from a short corner to put Witney ahead, but Flic Jefferis levelled.

Witney retook the lead through Katie Gatt, but Jefferis again equalised in the second half.

However, late strikes from Marie Vincent and Hayley Dobson secured the win
