Witney men’s much-changed side were unable to recover after a disastrous first half and lost 5-1 at Phoenix & Ranelagh in South Clubs League’s Regional 2.
At half-time, the visitors trailed 4-0 and looked in for a real hammering.
But they picked up their spirits in the second half and pulled a goal back when Andy Gosnell scored a drag flick from a short corner.
Phoenix added a fifth goal, and Witney’s bad day was complete when Tim Hardy was sent off for dissent.
Witney 2nd went down to a 2-1 defeat at home to Phoenix & Ranelagh 2nd in Middx, Berks, Bucks & Oxon League Division 4.
Trailing 1-0, Witney turned up the pressure after the break.
However, the visitors added a second, before substitute Phil Allen clawed one back on his return from injury, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
Witney 3rd went down to a 6-2 home defeat against Ramgarhia 2nd in Division 5.
It looked all over for Witney as the visitors took a 3-0 lead.
However, a double from Joe Taylor got the hosts back in the game.
However, the visitors stepped on the gas as they scored three unanswered goals to leave Witney stunned.
