Carterton went down to a 5-1 defeat at fellow Division 1 title chasers Headington A in the Oxfordshire League, sponsored by Bridle Insurance.
Only Baden Sparkes’s rink for the home side inflicted a loss on the opposition, who had big wins for Howard Watts and Ian Snowden.
West Witney bounced back from last week’s defeat with a whitewash of Bicester.
Comfortable victories on all four rinks gave them the second hundred of the week in the division.
Witney Mills came away from Charlbury with a 5-1 success in Division 2.
Chadlington ended Division 3 leaders Banbury Chestnuts’ unbeaten run with a 5-1 home win.
Good wins for Ron Arthur and Peter Madeley’s rinks, plus a tight victory for Philip Radbone earned the home side the spoils.
Witney Town grabbed the chance to go top with a solid performance away at Headington. In a very close encounter, they triumphed on three of the four rinks.
Chipping Norton continued their improvement but still lost the match points, away at Kidlington, thanks to a 12-shot winning margin for Chris Cox’s rink.
Dave Francis, from Woodstock, was out of luck in their Division 4 home clash with West Oxford.
Their 22-shot winning margin should have been enough for victory, but Oxford’s Mick Alderson skipped his team to a 15-shot victory and, with their other two rinks winning, they won it by two shots.
