WITNEY Mills secured promotion to Division 1 of the Oxfordshire League, sponsored by Bridle Insurance, but were pipped to the title on shot difference by South Oxford A.

A 5-1 win against Oxford Bowls Club saw Mills edge into top spot, but Oxford comfortably beat relegated Thame 6-0 to take the title by 69¾ shots.

David Cooper’s 15-shot win saw Charlbury help Mills’ cause in a 5-1 victory over Watlington, who missed out by half a point.

In Division 1, runners-up Carterton beat City and County 4-2, while Division 3 champions Witney Town overcame Bloxham 4½-1½.
