CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon provided champion jockey-elect Richard Johnson with another winner when Quieto Sol opened his account at Exeter.
The Herefordshire-based rider took up the running three flights from home on the five-year-old, who recorded a two-lengths verdict in a handicap hurdle over an extended two miles and two furlongs.
The stewards enquired into why the gelding had shown improved form, and Longsdon explained he had benefitted from racing on good ground.
The 11-2 shot runs in the colours of Longsdon’s wife, Sophie.
It was the master of Hull Farm stables’ second winner in as many days after Scorpion Princess got off the mark in good style at Southwell.
The five-year-old quickened up well for Graham Watters to take a mares’ National Hunt Flat Race by three and a half lengths.
