CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon sent out the almost white grey Ready Token to be a popular winner on ladies’ day at Warwick.
Jumping boldly at the head of affairs in a three-mile handicap chase, the eight-year-old romped home by 13 lengths from Allow Dallow under Aidan Coleman.
Longsdon missed the 7-2 shot’s win as he was at the Doncaster Sales, but his new assistant, Marcus Foley, said: “He has loved it because he has been able to dictate. He was making ground while they were making mistakes.”
Former jockey Foley, who schooled horses for Longsdon on a freelance basis last season, succeeds David Jeffreys, after he moved to a job with Lambourn-based hay steaming company Haygain.
Quench Dolly, trained by John Gallagher at Chastleton, landed a gamble when making a winning debut in thrilling fashion at Goodwood.
Backed down from 18-1 to 8-1, the two-year-old held on by a nose from Peachey Carnehan in a five-furlong novice auction stakes under Michael JM Murphy.
Royal Ascot could now be in the offing for the grey daughter of Hellvelyn.
Gallagher said: “It’s so nice to see a home-bred do it like that and her homework has always been encouraging.
“Mentally she will come on stacks for this, and as her owners like a good day out we might think about running her in the Queen Mary.”
