REIGNING champions Burford returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory away to Frilford Heath in Section 1 of the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League.
Frilford’s point came in the opening pairs, where Tim Smith and Lee White edged out Simon Hopkins and John Wilks 2 & 1.
But from then on Burford took control.
The second match also ended on the 17th green, where the visitors’ Sam Tanner and Michael Potts won 2 & 1 against Jon Rusk and Jamie Burns.
The deciding contest was more comfortable for Burford, as Aaron Ashberry and John Lally defeated Dean Newbold and Gary Hamilton 4 & 2.
It was only Burdord’s second win in five matches, but moved them to within half a point of Frilford, who take over at the top from Oxford City.
