GYMNASTICS: Carterton GC, whose youngsters won three medals at the Oxfordshire Individual Apparatus Championships, are seeking a new home.

Isabel Norris, 12, set a personal best score of 12.15 to secure silver on bars, while Evie Daft, 11, brought back silver on beam and bronze for her impressive floor routine.

The club has been run from the local community college for 25 years, with head coach Debra Courtenay-Crane and her team of coaches, looking after 150 recreational children and ten veteran gymnasts with their oldest medal winner in her eighties.

The gym has to be set up and closed down before and after every session and the team are desperate to change that.

“We are a leading gymnastics club,” said veteran gymnast and coach Claire Granville.

“Debra has worked tirelessly for 25-plus years and now we are looking for a static gym where we can have our equipment set up permanently.

“Not only will that enable us to maximise our training time, but we could also offer a lot more to the local community.”
