DABINETT Moon provided Chipping Norton trainer Fran Marriott and her husband, Chris, with another night to remember by landing the Skinner’s Ladies Open Point-to-Point Championship Final at Stratford.

The nine-year-old mare, who won the Subaru “Restricted Point-to-Point” Series Final on the evening card two years ago, repeated the success over the same extended two-miles-and-six-furlong trip.

Sent into the lead after the second-last by Claire Hardwick, the 11-2 chance overcame an awkward jump at the final fence to gamely hold off Patricktom Boru by a length and a quarter.

The Marriotts are landlords to Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon.

And he also enjoyed success when Western Miller bounced back to winning ways at Bangor-on-Dee.

Well beaten when fourth on his reappearance at Ludlow after a seven-month break, the six-year-old showed the benefit of that particular outing by making all the running under Richard Johnson.

Western Miller took an extended two-mile-and-three-furlong handicap hurdle by six lengths from Barrys Jack.

Longsdon reported that his charge had settled much better on this occasion, and finished his race well with the addition of a tongue strap.
