JAMIE Godfrey was crowned Yarnton & District AC’s Summer League champion, despite coming only sixth in the final round at Clattercote Reservoir.

Going into the match with a five-point advantage over second-placed Pete Oliver, Godfrey struggled with a mixed bag of 31lbs 12oz 0drms.

Nick Paxton won on the day with 69.0.0 of carp including one which tipped the scales at 17.10.0.

Second was Oliver, who caught seven carp on the pellet waggler for 64.8.0 with Keiran Thorne a close third with 64.5.0.

Godfrey’s five points were just enough to seal the title by a point from Oliver.

Final standings: 1 J Godfrey 67pts, 2 P Oliver 66, 3 T Derrick 57.

Gerald Perks won Littlemore AS’s Sumner Cup on the Thames at Sandford, where roach dominated.

Perks beat off 13 rivals to produced a winning weight of 17.2.0, while Pete Clarke was second with 13.3.0.

Malcolm Smith, who lost an early tench on the pole, had to settle for third with 12.13.0.

Roach again dominated Marston FTB’s match at Clifton Hampden.

Graham Bradshaw caught plenty of small fish on the 14.5m pole for a winning weight of 12.1.0.

Gordon Collier was second with an all-roach bag of 11.5.0, while Wayne Rudman came third with 7.10.0.
