CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon may have been out of luck with his Cheltenham Festival runners, but he was back in the winner’s enclosure with Just Don’t Ask at Uttoxeter.

The six-year-old gelding followed up his Ayr victory by holding off Whiskey In The Jar by two-and-three-quarter lengths after making all the running in a two-and-a-half-mile novices’ hurdle under Brian Hughes.

Earlier in the week, Western Miller, Midnight Shot and Pendra were out of the money at the Festival for the Hull Farm Stables handler.

Leafield trainer Shaun Lycett opened his account on the Flat this year when The King’s Steed struck at Wolverhampton.

Kieran Shoemark was on board as the five-year-old came home a length and a half clear of Joys Delight in an extended one mile handicap.
