HOCKEY: Witney, who had already secured promotion in South League Regional 2, failed to win either of their last two matches, which were played in less than 24 hours.

On Friday night, they went down 3-0 to Banbury 2nd, who were the only team to do the double over them this season. All the goals came in the first half.

On Saturday, Witney drew 2-2 away to West Hampstead, having led 2-0 through strikes from Ryan Fitz-John and Ben Moss.

The hosts hit back to level and only a wonder save from goalkeeper Craig Simms, playing his first game of the season, denied them victory.

Witney Ladies 3rd were handed a walk-over by Gerrards Cross, which allowed them to leapfrog their opponents, and avoid relegation from Trysports Three Counties League Division 4.
