BOATS were being launched at Farmoor Fly Fishing Club's Darlow Water, near Hardwick, for the first time today.
Working parties have been busy at the water over the winter and a new landing stage has been built by club member Terry Saxton and his team ready for today's start of the season.
The club, which allows catch-and-release fishing, has stocked 1,000 trout, from Bibury Trout Farm, at the West Oxfordshire water ready for the start of the season, with even greater numbers stocked at the club's other water, the Farmoor I reservoir, near Oxford. Six thousand trout were stocked there last month, with a further 5,125 due to be stocked in June and September.
The club will again be running free fly-fishing training courses this year, starting on May 17 for four weeks on Wednesday evenings (7.30pm). Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions, which are not solely for beginners. More information is available from Ken Day on 01235 554618.
