Horse Racing: Rimell is back in business

Leafield trainer Mark Rimell looks to have finally turned the corner after a spell in the wilderness.

Nesnaas gave him his first winner for more than nine months with victory at Wincanton.

And, two days later, he saddled Cove Mountain to score at Hereford.

Rimell hadn't visited the winner's enclosure for 293 days until the seven-year-old Nesnaas romped home by 23 lengths under Aidan Coleman in a two-mile handicap chase at the Somerset track.

The likes of Oneway and Crossbow Creek, who had provided his previous success when winning on the Flat at Kempton last July, got Rimell's training career off to a flying start.

But he's found it tough going in recent seasons, with the yard also being hit a by a virus.

However, a visit to Newmarket trainer Sir Mark Prescott, who advised him to go back to basics, has put him back on track.

And, having waited for so long to emerge from the doldrums with Nesnaas's success, he struck again with Cove Mountain.

Coleman was again seen to good effect as he got the six-year-old mare up in the last stride to beat Jocheski by a short head in a novices' handicap hurdle.
