SIMON Eastwood says the aim of the game for Oxford United tonight is to avoid becoming an Emirates FA Cup headline.

The second round kicks off this evening with the U’s visiting Macclesfield Town, which will be televised on BBC2.

It was selected as one of the ties screened live partly due to the chances of an upset.

The Silkmen won 1-0 at Walsall in the first round last month and are eyeing another Sky Bet League One scalp.

But while the game is on TV, Eastwood is hoping the drama is kept to a minimum.

The goalkeeper said: “We’re playing one of those games where if you lose you’re making headlines.

“We don’t want to be doing that. We want to get in, do the job and get out again.

“You don’t want people talking about Oxford United this weekend, because it’s a game everybody outside of football thinks you should win.

“It’s a tough game as a footballer going to the non-league ground.

“You just want to get the job done under the radar and get into the next round.

“There were shocks in the first round and hopefully this isn’t one of them.”

United reached the

second round for the fifth successive season with a 5-0 win at Merstham.

While they face non-league opposition again, Macclesfield, who are 11th in the Vana- rama National League will provide a very different test.

Eastwood, pictured, said: “I think this is a much harder game for us than the first one.

“I know a couple of the lads there and they are a professional side.

“They are not training once or twice a week like Merstham, where you felt they might flag a bit in the last 20 minutes and then we would be able to roll them over.

“I don’t think this will be like that.

“They play at a good standard and come up against good teams every week.

“It’ll be a battle for us, so we’ve got to be prepared for it.”

While U’s boss Michael Appleton intends to rotate his side, Eastwood is set to continue in his aim of playing every game this season.

He said: “I came down here to play first-team football, so whenever there’s a game I’m the first one to put my name forward.”
