KANE Hemmings scored a hat-trick as a strong Oxford United beat Kidlington 5-1 to reach the Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-finals.

Conor McAleny and James Roberts also found the net for the visitors, who ran away with the game in the latter stages.

Lewis Coyle was on target for Kidlington, equalising from the penalty spot in the first half.

Hemmings had a goal ruled out for offside early on, but United's top-scorer opened the scoring in the 17th minute.

The striker collected Charlie Raglan's ball over the top, before clipping a precise finish over goalkeeper Sam Warrell.

United lost Josh Ashby to an injury after a foul from Tom Franklin and they were pegged back on 31 minutes.

Coyle converted from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by Sam Long.

The U's lead was restored just before the break, when McAleny curled a shot into the far corner of the net from 20 yards.

Tempers frayed in a fiery start to the second half, but United increased their lead just after the hour mark.

Hemmings bagged his second goal of the night from close range after McAleny had collected a Josh Ruffels pass and beat the goalkeeper.

The striker completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute, firing home at the second attempt.

Roberts added a fifth late on from Joe Rothwell's unselfish pass.
