THE intensity of training at Oxford United is about to go up a notch after Pep Clotet signed a 23-year-old.

But the latest addition will not increase the U’s options on the pitch – it is an L Reg Rover Metro which has caused a stir.

Clotet has brought it to award to the player who puts in the worst performance in training, starting from next week.

Midfielder Josh Ruffels was among the squad members to take a closer look when it arrived on Wednesday, but is hoping it is the last time he comes anywhere near it this season.

He said: “You’ve got to drive it in for a week, so we were having a laugh in it testing it out.

“It should be quite fun when it starts, but the pressure’s on.

“You don’t want to be the worst trainer.”

So if you see the distinctive motor on the ring road, make sure to give it a toot.
