STEVE Evans believes Oxford United should be coming into tomorrow’s clash with his Peterborough United side off the back of a victory.

The Posh have won both games since Evans (pictured) took charge, with their 1-0 win at Bury on Tuesday night taking them back into the play-off positions.

By contrast, the U’s are on a poor run of just one win in eight games, which was extended by a 2-1 defeat at AFC Wimbledon last Saturday.

But Evans, who is full of respect for United’s caretaker boss Derek Fazackerley, felt they were unfortunate.

He told the club’s website: “I don’t really know Derek Fazackerley but I know enough players who have been coached by him to know what the man stands for.

“They should have won at Wimbledon, there’s no other reason in the world, bar perhaps a penalty given against them that to all intents and purposes was soft.

“They probably felt they did enough to win.”

He added: “We will certainly change personnel and maybe a little change in the system too.

“We want to pass it a lot better, but in the right areas. I’ve never believed in taking 45 passes to go across the halfway line.”
