JAMES Henry will be looking to get one over a former manager at Portsmouth on Sunday by continuing an excellent run of form in his favoured position.

The 28-year-old has performed a variety of roles since signing for Oxford United last summer.

But it has only been during Derek Fazackerley’s caretaker spell that he has operated in a central attacking role behind one or two strikers.

Henry has responded with four goals in his last eight appearances, including the crucial winner against Peterborough United last weekend.

He said: “I’ve not hidden away from the fact that’s where I’ve wanted to play for some time now.

“I’ve had five games in there and scored a few goals.

“It’s a nice position for me and I think it worked on the day for the team.”

With seven goals for the campaign, Henry will be looking to get closer to his target of double figures when United visit Portsmouth.

“Definitely,” he said.

“I don’t want to just stop there, I want to get as many as I can and hopefully chip in with a few assists as well.

“It was a real team performance (against Peterborough).

“That’s what we’ve lacked. One game we’ll defend well but won’t be good going forward, then vice versa.

“We just need to carry that team performance on in the weeks to come.”

Henry has a good idea of what to expect from Kenny Jackett’s home side this weekend, having played under the 56-year-old at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He said: “Kenny always sets his teams up to go and win games.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing under him.

“We always had a good relationship and understood how each other worked.

“But there will be no love lost this weekend and hopefully we can go and get the three points.”
