OXFORD United look set to be naming a youthful substitutes bench at Ewood Park tomorrow.

The nine players who were told on Monday they did not have a future at the U’s will not travel to Blackburn Rovers.

Ryan Ledson, who is believed to be close to a move to Preston North End, will also not be selected.

It rules out three of last weekend’s matchday squad, including top-scorer Wes Thomas.

James Henry, who can still end the campaign as United’s top marksman, is available again after becoming a father last weekend.

But boss Karl Robinson is planning to fill any gaps with players from the youth set-up.

He said: “It’s a case of what we have left to put a team out.

“It shouldn’t be the deep end for them, because they should be competing to be ready in the under 23s and first team next year.

“At 18 or 19 if you’re not involved in the first-team squad, you’re a long way away at this level, so they should be ready.

“They’ll have massive amount to learn and we’ll find out about them.”
