Oxford United line up West Ham and Cardiff City in pre-season

WEST Ham United and Cardiff City will both visit the Kassam Stadium this summer as Oxford United warm-up for the new football season.
Chris Wilder’s men kick-off their pre-season games on July 17, when they entertain what is expected to be a strong Hammers side preparing for a return to the Premier League.
A trip to Didcot Town follows before the U’s cross the Atlantic for three games in a tour to the USA.
Cardiff City, beaten finalists in the Carling Cup this season, are due to send their full first-team squad on August 4 in United's final home friendly.
Trips to Eastleigh (August 7) and Oxford City (August 10) wrap up the pre-season ahead of the first competitive game of the campaign - a Carling Cup first round tie on August 14.
The npower League Two season begins on Saturday, August 18.

Friday, July 20: Didcot Town (A)
Tuesday, July 24: Seacoast United Mariners (USA tour)
Friday, July 27: Seacoast United Phantoms (USA tour)
Monday, July 30: Jim Dedeus XI (USA tour)
Saturday, August 4: Cardiff City (H)
Tuesday, August 7: Eastleigh (A)
Friday, August 10: Oxford City (A)

On another tack, why are we having the fourth new home shirt in four seasons? is this not yet another attempt to extract cash from what is already one of the best supported teams in L2, i dont mind paying my way but this is a con of the first degree i reckon.

I agree, but on the other hand why play teams of the same level as us and just stalemate out, perhaps the WHU and CC of this world might teach us a litle.
On another tack, why are we having the fourth new home shirt in four seasons? is this not yet another attempt to extract cash from what is already one of the best supported teams in L2, i dont mind paying my way but this is a con of the first degree i reckon.

Games against WH and Cardiff will be good for the balance sheet, the tour is a waste of time and games against Didcot and Eastleigh will not be competitive enough to really get a feel for next season’s squad.
I don't like casting a downer on things but we need the players and staff to be in the correct mindset for the road ahead; what's the point in being good against West Hams of this world if we can't beat Morecombe’s?
