DANNY Hylton admitted to being unhappy with his recent performances after being unable to prevent Oxford United losing at Burton.

The forward has 14 goals this season, more than double anyone else has managed for the side this season, but has struck just twice since November 1.

He fired a good chance to equalise into the side-netting on Saturday after good work from substitute Kemar Roofe.

And Hylton, who was similarly off the pace in the 1-0 defeat at Accrington Stanley last Tuesday, was the first to concede it was not clicking for him.

“Being a forward or the top scorer, I want to score in every single game,” he said.

Latest United news:

“I want to play well, I want to create chances and in the last couple of games I’ve been off it.

“I don’t think I’ve been (at the level) where I have been.

“That’s not through a lack of work, sometimes it just doesn’t come off for you.”

The main talking point surrounding the No 10 came late on, when he went down with Damien McCrory.

Burton claimed Hylton kicked out at the full back – something the forward, who was booked for the challenge, denied.

He said: “He was doing what defenders do and trying to shield you out.

“I tried to wrap my leg around him and keep the ball in. He fell on the floor and I didn’t even make contact with him, but the ref said I tripped him.”
