LEEDS United’s interest in Kemar Roofe is cooling due to Oxford United’s price tag for the star forward, according to reports.

The Sky Bet Championship club were believed to be lining up a formal approach for Roofe, who is in demand after scoring 26 goals last season.

But the Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting the U’s are looking for around £3m, which could put off Leeds.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony said on Twitter today he would value the former West Brom man at ‘£1.5m plus’.

When asked what figure he would place on Roofe, he replied: “As only done it L2, £1.5 mill plus. If in L1 does it (which he will) then lot more.”

United’s club record fee received is the £1.6m paid by Leicester City for defender Matt Elliott in 1997.
