CHARLIE Raglan says he has tried to be a positive influence on his Oxford United teammates despite being a frustrated spectator from the subs bench.

The 23-year-old, who is on loan from Chesterfield, started for only the second time since November as the U’s drew 1-1 with Walsall in Sky Bet League One last Saturday.

The centre back, whose contract with the Spireites expires in the summer, performed well on his return at the Banks’s Stadium, but admitted, with only four games remaining, he is unsure what the future holds.

Raglan said: “It’s not really in my hands.

“It’s just been a case of training and coming in every day and trying to influence what goes on in a positive way whether you’re playing or not.

“I have to keep my focus for days like Saturday and I enjoyed it. I just wanted to do my job and I felt like I did that to a reasonable extent.”

Raglan added: “Whether you’re playing or not, everyone tries to have a positive impact on each other for days like Walsall when there are a few changes.”

Although Raglan would have liked more time on the pitch, he has nothing but respect for the club and head coach Michael Appleton.

He said: “It takes nothing away from my opinion of the club and everything that goes with it – the manager and the lads have been first class with me.”
