10:36pm Sunday 3rd November 2013 in Rugby
Leeds Carnegie 24
(tries Burdon, pen try, Green; cons Lozowski 3; pen Lozowski)
London Welsh 31
(tries Scott 2, Trevett; cons Davies 2; pens Davies 4)
London Welsh overturned a 12-point deficit against Leeds Carnegie to make it six wins from as many games and go back to the top of the Greene King IPA Championship.
Alex Lozowski despatched a penalty to give Leeds the lead.
Gordon Ross was off target with his first two penalty attempts for Welsh, and later passed the baton to Alex Davies.
Nathan Trevett went over for the opening try, after receiving a pass from Peter Edwards, who had been fed by Andy Titterrell – one for the front row union.
Davies, taking over the kicking duties from Ross, couldn’t add the extras.
But Welsh struck again when Davies took a quick tap penalty and Daniel Browne and Seb Jewell combined to send Nick Scott over. Davies converted.
Leeds hit back before the break with Burrows storming through a gap, before being hauled down by Scott at the foot of a post.
No try was given, but Burdon picked up and went over from close range Lozowski added the conversion and half-time arrived with Welsh wondering how their lead was only 12-10.
Leeds went ahead early in the second half when the impressive Craig Hampson found a gap in the Welsh defence and Calum Green went over. Lozowski converted.
Welsh fell further behind when Lozowski darted for the line only to be held up, but the home side were awarded a penalty try from the resulting scrum.
Lozowski’s conversion saw Leeds open up a 24-12 lead.
But Davies landed a penalty, before Scott burst through for his second try.
Davies converted and added three more penalties to secure victory.
