OXFORDSHIRE will look to march on when they host Staffordshire in the National Under 20 Championship Shield quarter-finals.

Moran’s side entertain the Midlanders at Chipping Norton on Sunday (2) after qualifying from Pool 2 with a 100 per cent record.

Oxon sealed top spot with a 52-0 victory at Somerset, having beaten Warwickshire 36-8 and received a walk-over from Oxford University.

Head coach Martin Moran said there have been a number of keys to Oxfordshire’s success.

“We have kept the spine of the team from last year,” he said.

“We have added of players coming through Oxford Brookes and the county under 18 set up.

“We have also strengthened of the coaching team with the addition of James Cathcart as backs coach.”

Josh Poole scored a hat-trick of tries against Somerset, while Will Millett (2), Sam Rawsthorne, Tom Kynge and Sean Rowley also crossed over.

Millett also slotted four conversions and George Gross two.

Oxon had trailed 8-3 to Warwickshire at half-time, with Millett slotting their only points via a penalty, but Luke Blythe, George Blewitt and Millett (2) scored second-half tries.

Millett added two conversions and a brace of penalties, with Dan Burke kicking the other three points.

Meanwhile, Oxfordshire Under 20s have extended their sponsorship deal with Servicesource, a company specialising in ‘recurring revenue management solutions’.

BANBURY or Grove will host Henley Bulls in the Oxfordshire Cup semi-finals.

The sides saw last night’s quarter-final clash at Bodicote Park postponed for a second week running.

But they at least know a home clash in the last four is up for grabs, with Oxford Harlequins entertaining Witney in the other semi-final.

Both matches are due to be played on the weekend of February 22 and 23.
