London Welsh assistant coach Gordon Ross was far from satisfied with his side’s 29-11 victory over Bedford Blues.

Although Welsh scored five tries, they failed to hit the heights they achieved in their previous match at the Kassam – a 47-16 win against Rotherham.

“It was a pretty scrappy game,” admitted Ross.

“We are obviously delighted to get five points, but there were a lot of mistakes that we were disappointed with.

“However, we finished three or four really nice tries and Bedford are a difficult team to beat.”

Asked if the scoreline flattered Welsh, Ross replied: “Possibly yes, but we had a lot of dominance, certainly in the scrum and a lot of good field position.

“We struggled a little bit with the line-out.”

He added: “We are anxious to keep this run going, we are building a nice bit of momentum up.

“It is a good sign when you get five points without playing well.”
