GREENE KING IPA CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
BRISTOL director of rugby Andy Robinson says the Memorial Stadium crowd will give them a ten-point advantage against London Welsh tonight.
Robinson hopes the home support will give his side an extra lift as they seek to turn around a 27-8 deficit.
Before the first leg, Welsh head coach Justin Burnell said the Kassam Stadium crowd would be worth seven points to his side, but Robinson has gone further.
“We feel the crowd gives us a ten-point advantage,” he said.
“We really feel they can give the side a lift.
“It’s about being able to thrive on the atmosphere that’s created.
“We’re looking for every Bristol player to stand up and enjoy the atmosphere.”
Robinson also stressed that referee Luke Pearce will need to be strong.
He said: “We felt that we got dominated at the set-piece – which was disappointing, and we’ve tried to clarify a few interpretations around London Welsh’s maul.
“The two tries they scored, we felt were illegal, and we need the referee to be strong there. But also in the dominance of the scrum.”
