Gordon Ross has told London Welsh’s fringe players to seize their chance in the coming weeks.

The Exiles made comparatively few changes during their opening six Aviva Premiership matches, which meant many of their squad missed out.

But with Welsh set to rotate during their European Challenge Cup and LV= Cup matches, assistant coach Ross says these players can now make a point.

“It has been difficult for some of the guys who have not played because they have all been working hard in training,” he said.

“These games give them a huge chance to put in a performance.

“The message we’ll get across to the players is seize the opportunity.

“Impress in the next few weeks and you will get more opportunities.”

Although Welsh’s battle for Premiership survival remains their priority, Ross hopes the next four matchers can act as a confidence boost.

“A lot of our guys have played the last six weeks and they will get the chance to freshen up, get a few weekends in the gym and look after themselves,” he said.

“We are certainly not taking these games lightly, but we are looking at a few things in training.

“These games still mean a lot to us.”

Ross added: “We are under no illusions how difficult it is to go to France at any time.”

The Exiles have suffered their fair share of injuries this season, with a lack of front-row players forcing them to postpone Monday night’s Aviva A League clash with Wasps.

Ross said this meant they were always looking to add to their squad.

“Every coach in the Premiership wants more players and we are no different,” he said.

“It’s unfortunate that we have picked up a few injuries in the same position.”
