Gosford led via a Ben Bodinham try after good work by half backs Will Watts and Bill Smith.

Chris Bennett converted this and two penalties.

Witney could not recover from a slow start in their 24-17 defeat at Towcestrians in South West 1 East.

With visiting scrum half Arron Lambourne in the sin bin, Towcestrians led 12-0 thanks to tries from lock Kieran Frost and No 8 Craig Holton, full back James Falvey converting the first.

Witney hit back with fly half Matt Clarke muscling his way over and centre James Lamb converting.

Falvey converted his own try early in the second half.

Clarke jinked his way through to bag his second, Lamb converting for 19-14.

Centre Matt Bodily’s try put Towcestrians 24-14 ahead.

Witney replacement Harry Stevens slotted a penalty, but visiting full back Jake Thomas and Bodily were yellow-carded after a scuffle.
