JACK Hayes was the star with three interception tries as Chinnor won 33-12 against Redruth at Kingsey Road.

The home side took just six minutes to get off the mark, Ryan Long finishing off after a scything run by Sam Angell.

Hayes showed his keen sense of anticipation with the first of his hat-trick, which was converted by Ed Keohane to make it 12-0 after 26 minutes.

Redruth made the most of Simone Carloni being sin-binned, reducing the arrears through Luke Collins.

Both sides finished the half strongly.

First, Hayes again read the play superbly to pluck a Redruth pass out of the air and gallop the length of the field.

Keohane converted, but the Cornishmen hit straight back through Chris Fuca. Jonathan Hopkins added the extras, trimming Chinnor’s lead at the break to 19-12.

Angell was again the instigator for the opening score of the second half.

A quickly-taken penalty almost saw him score in the corner, but the hosts’ pack recovered the ball to set up Guido Camareri to touch down for the bonus point try. Keohane’s extras put Chinnor 26-12 ahead on 48 minutes.

Chinnor finished with a flourish and appropriately it was Hayes who did the damage, snatching the ball in his own 22 to score under the posts again.

Keohane’s conversion completed the scoring to seal a seventh win in nine games.

Henley Hawks’ flawless league season was extended to 14 games with a ten-try mauling of Dings Crusaders.

The 58-10 scoreline suggests a comfortable victory, but the visitors were well in the contest until a dominant spell early in the second half.

Dings actually took the lead through a try from James Oakley, converted by Mark Woodrow.

Hawks struggled to find their rhythm, but got on the board when wing Lloyd Owen squeezed over for the first of an individual four-try haul.

Tries from Tom Allen and skipper Dave Clements put the home side ahead.

The match was 14-a-side late in the half as Henley’s Ryan Newman and Dings’ Michele Canulli were sin-binned.

A penalty from the visitors made it 17-10, keeping them in sight when the second half kicked off.

But it did not stay that way for long, as the league leaders clicked into gear.

Piers O’Conor and Owen created a try for each other and when the latter completed his hat-trick, converted by James Comben, Henley were 34-10 in front.

Having finally gained the upper hand, they went for the jugular.

Hooker Stuart Philpott and centre Simon Perry scored, before Owen capped his display with a fourth score.

O’Conor added two conversions against a Dings side hit by Woodrow being sent to the sin bin and Luke Plummer receiving a red card for foul play.

Xavier Andre completed the rout in the final moments.
