CHINNOR 2nd made light work of depleted hosts Grove side to win their Oxfordshire Cup semi-final 35-13.

The home side were hit by the loss of several players just before the match, which may have contributed to an uncharacteristically error-strewn performance.

Grove had only a Harry Carr penalty to show for their firsthalf efforts, as a strong Chinnor line-up went in 16-3 up at the break.

The lead grew steadily after the restart as Chinnor went through the gears.

Wing George Grose led the way with two tries, while centre Martin Nutt, winger Harry Hillier, and centre Nathan Napier also scored.

Fly half James Cathcart also kept the scoreboard ticking over with two conversions and two penalties.

Grove had their moments, scoring well-taken tries from flanker Jack Horrocks and lock Rory Gratwohl.

The home side had an opportunity to close the gap in the dying minutes as Chinnor had two players sent to the sin bin.

Playing against 13 men, Grove piled on the pressure and thought they had scored through hooker Jimmy Wallbridge, but it went unseen by the officials.

Chinnor survived and will meet Oxford Harlequins in the final on a date to be confirmed.
