Witney ran in ten tries as they hammered Trowbridge 65-0 in South West 1 East, extending their winning run to nine matches on Saturday.

The result moved the hosts to within a point of fourth-placed Swindon.

Phil Thomas kicked Witney into a 3-0 lead, before flanker Scott Mortimer picked up and charged over for their first try, Thomas converting.

James Monks then steamed over after being set up by Henry Lamb, Thomas adding the extras for 17-0.

Scrum half Gareth Campbell was next to go over, with Monks making it 29-0 with his second try to secure the bonus point before half-time, Thomas converting. The hosts continued their dominance after the break with Carl Strutt and Joe Rowles going over, Thomas converting both kicks for 43-0.

A driving maul led to Mortimer going over for his second try and on 51 minutes Phil Thomas ran through to score for 53-0.

Strutt scored his second try following a superb break from Monks to make it 58-0.

Trowbridge revitalised and would have registered on the scoreboard, but Phil Thomas made a brilliant try-saving tackle five metres out.

Witney stepped back on the gas and five minutes into injury time, Campbell got his second try, with Thomas completing the rout.

Chipping Norton won 29-13 at Phoenix in Berks, Bucks & Oxon League Premier Division.
